Harvey Pitt (born February 28, 1945, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.—died May 30, 2023, Washington, D.C.) American jurist who was associated with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for more than three decades, serving as its chairman in 2001–03. Pitt earned an undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York in 1965 and a J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law, Jamaica, Queens, New York, in 1968.
