Huntingdon, town (parish), Huntingdonshire district, administrative county of Cambridgeshire, historic county of Huntingdonshire, south-central England. It is the administrative centre and county town (seat) of Huntingdonshire, and it lies on the north bank of the River Ouse (or Great Ouse). Huntingdon, founded by the Anglo-Saxons and Danes, prospered successively as a bridging point of the Ouse, as a market town, and in the 18th and 19th centuries as a coaching centre.
