Tasman, unitary authority, northwestern South Island, central New Zealand. It is bounded by Tasman Bay/Te Tai-o-Aorere and Golden Bay/Mohua and Nelson city to the northeast. Administratively, it is bordered by Marlborough unitary authority and Canterbury regional council to the east and by West Coast regional council to the south and west. The unitary authority is drained by the Buller, Motueka, and Aorere rivers and their tributaries. Rotoroa is the largest lake.
