Another stream from which Greek philosophy, especially Neoplatonic thought, flowed into the Middle Ages was the Greek Fathers of the Church, notably Origen (c. 185–c. 254), St. Gregory of Nyssa (c. 335–c. 394), Nemesius of Emesa (flourished 4th century), Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite (flourished c. 500), and St. Maximus the Confessor (c. 580–662).
